Ivy Knit Purl Baby Blanket

Ivy Knit Purl Baby Blanket on Ladder

Today I’m sharing a knit purl baby blanket pattern that’s fun for all skill levels! I designed the Ivy blanket to use a simple combination of knits and purls to create a subtle, trailing texture, like ivy vines running across the fabric. Once you get into the repeat, it’s easy to follow and has a nice rhythm to it, which makes it a really relaxing project to pick up at the end of the day.

Perfect For Practicing Knits and Purls

If you can knit and purl, you can absolutely make this blanket! The pattern has a six row repeat and is a great way to build confidence with stitch patterns without feeling overwhelmed. I’ve also added throw sized instructions in case you want to make your blanket bigger.

I love to write blanket patterns because when I started knitting, these were the projects that really helped me understand new stitches (since I had to repeat them over and over for rows on end!). Plus blankets make really thoughtful gifts, so I know that they’ll appreciated. People love receiving hand knit blankets and hold onto them for years. And if you’re knitting one for yourself, it’s something you’ll use every day, and feel proud to have on your sofa or bed!
