I know that the weather is warming up in many parts of the US, but up here in Canada it’s still winter for at least another month, which is why I decided to share one more cold weather accessory pattern for the season. I designed this free pattern for stretch knit fingerless gloves to compliment my Broken Rib Stitch Beanie Knitting Pattern. They are crafted with the same broken rib stitch and worsted weight yarn, making them the perfect set to gift or wear together. The stretchy knit fabric ensures a snug and comfortable fit, and the fingerless design means that you can wear these gloves all day long without having to take them off.
These fingerless gloves are knit in the round because knitting in the round creates a seamless and professional-looking finished product… and to be honest, I do not enjoy sewing up seams and avoid this task at all costs. Please don’t be intimidated by the fact that these gloves are knit in the round. I kept the pattern as simple and easy to follow as possible. There are also many tutorials online now that teach how to easily knit in the round. I personally prefer to use circular knitting needles with the magic loop method for knitting in the round, but the pattern can also be followed if you like to knit in the round with double pointed needles.

The yarn that I chose to work with this time is Knit Picks High Desert worsted weight yarn due to its unique combination of softness, durability, and warmth. This yarn is 100% American wool making it perfect for creating texture and retaining heat. I recommend that you knit these gloves with the high desert line of yarn, however you can substitute with other similar worsted weight yarns – just be sure to check your gauge! Here are some more options that I think would work great:
- Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran
- Lion Brand Wool-Ease
- Knit Picks Brava Worsted Weight
- Knit Picks Brava Tweed Worsted Weight
- Plymouth Yarn’s Encore Worsted Weight Yarn
- Berroco Comfort
Whether you’re running errands, commuting to work, or just hanging out at home… I promise, these gloves will be one of your favourite accessories if you despise feeling cold like I do! This is a quick and rewarding project, so get started today on your first pair!
Pay it Forward!
I hope you enjoy this pattern! Please feel free to share the link to this page on your social media or Pinterest account.
I truly appreciate all of you who get the word out about this site and my patterns!
