Crochet a Quick and Easy Headband
Headbands are such great crochet projects, whether you’re a beginner or more advanced. They’re quick to make, don’t require much yarn, and are perfect for practicing new stitches or techniques. Plus, they’re super functional—keeping your ears warm and your hair out of the way without the bulk of a full hat. It’s a fun, easy project you can whip up in no time!
I designed this headband when I signed up for a 10K race a few years ago. While I consider myself to be in decent physical condition, I have noticed that the older I get, the less I can get away with eating and drinking like I do! And since I love to run, this seems like the best way to begin my healthier lifestyle.
Since I was training in the winter, I was in desperate need of a cozy headband to keep my ears warm, while keeping the hair out of my face. I designed this headband to be snug and lightweight but warm. The yarn that I chose is Knit Picks Shine Worsted Weight Yarn because its made with high quality Pima cotton. Cotton is perfect for being absorbent and machine washable – which is ideal for anyone planning to work up a sweat! If you’re not into running, you will still love this headband. Its stylish and cozy – and great for early spring as well as winter.

Hi Lynn, thank you for the suggestion! I will try to make one. I get so nervous making videos but my goal is to make more of them since I know they are way more helpful than written instructions!
Thank you. That would be great! I’m dying to make this head band. Love all your projects. I’ve made several of the blankets and used your recommended material. It’s been great.

Helloooo
Just wanted to tell you I don’t believe this reply was for me. I think someone else would really miss reading your reply!
Thank you

Love the pattern. It would be really helpful to have the stitch count per row as I like to start with a foundation dc stitch instead of a chain.
Love this pattern No sweat head band very easy to follow. Worked up great ?
Thank you
You’re welcome!
The picture has the stripes going around the head and video has them going up and down. This makes the little chain 3 loops on the forehead in picture and as a join in the video. Does that make a difference? Join will be in the loops instead of smooth edges.
Please disregard my post!!! I apparently was holding pattern wrong. So sorry!!!!
I’m a beginner, but loving it! Finished the length and watched the video to see how to”seam ends together”. I know I can find out how on another YouTube video, just disappointed it wasn’t shown on this one. I suppose most already know how…
Thanks for the feedback Dianne, I will keep this in mind for future tutorials.
Thank you! Easy to understand VDO.
What a great pattern to do to use up half a ball of yarn-of which I seem to have a lot! Thank you, your verbal demonstration was excellent to go along with the video. I will be making several of these.
So happy to hear!
