Another Easy and Fun Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern
The last pattern I shared was a crocheted baby blanket, so of course I had to create a new knit baby blanket pattern for all of my fellow knitters too! I know a lot of you enjoy having both options, and I always want to make sure everyone feels included, whether you knit, crochet, or love doing a little bit of both.
One of the best parts of sharing these patterns is hearing from you—so many of you have told me that you knit my baby blanket patterns for charity, or as gifts for grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or friends welcoming a new little one into the world. It absolutely warms my heart every time I get a message or see a photo, knowing that something I designed played a small part in celebrating such a beautiful moment. It’s honestly one of the biggest reasons I keep creating and sharing these patterns—because handmade gifts, stitched with love, have a way of carrying so much meaning and joy.

For this baby blanket, I used a combination of knit slip stitches and the basic knit stitch to create a scrunchy, soft fabric with an excellent drape – making it perfect for babies to snuggle up with. The simple repeat of the stitch pattern is also a great introduction to working with slip stitches for beginner knitters.
Yarn Choice For This Pattern
As you may know, I love acrylic yarn for my knit baby blanket patterns because it is washable, durable, and tends to not bother allergy sufferers or those with sensitive skin. This time, I was hoping to try something different from the solid colours that I usually go with. I was excited to learn that Knit Picks just released a new speckled colour series to its Brava Worsted yarn line, which is super cute and perfect for baby blankets!
I chose the Rosebud Speckle (hence the name of the pattern), combined with White to make this blanket. To be honest, I loved the Rosebud Speckle on it’s own… but quickly realized that I didn’t order enough for the size of blanket that I hoped to create. I solved this issue alternating it with white every two rows, and I it turned out even better than I’d hoped! You can of course use only Rosebud Speckle if you are hesitant to work with two colours – the end result will just be more creamy and colourful. Also, if you’d like to make this blanket for a boy (or gender neutral) feel free to experiment with the other options! The Brava line has 8 different speckled colours, and they are all stunning in my opinion!
