A New Free Blanket Pattern for the New Year – And its Easy!

Well, its finally 2021! I hope you were able to have a bit of a break and enjoy some downtime over the last two weeks. I spent the holidays with my little family unit enjoying a quiet Christmas at home since our city was on a lockdown due to the Coronavirus. It was different, but as an introvert, I have to admit that it was kind of nice. I was able to get so much knitting time in! One of the projects that I completed was writing up this free easy knit blanket pattern to share with you all.

I knit this blanket with Knit Picks Brava Premium Acrylic worsted weight yarn, which is one of my favourite acrylic yarns. I chose acrylic for this pattern because I wanted to make it affordable and machine washable. Also, many of my followers have wool allergies, and acrylic is great for sensitive skin.

You may have noticed that I have a cute new model in my photos of this blanket. The schools in our city will not have in person classes until next week, so while my son Noah had a break from home schooling, I managed to convince him to snuggle up with the blanket and pose for a photo. He did a great job, and then announced that he was keeping the blanket as payment!!

Anyways, scroll down to find the pattern for this beginner friendly blanket below on this page. I’ve also included some other colour options in case you’d like to switch it up!
