Heart Knit Headband Free Pattern

Since it’s almost valentines day, I thought it would be fun to create a heart themed knit headband pattern to share with you guys! I designed this pattern to be a simple, satisfying one that uses only knits and purls to create an embossed heart design. It’s worked in the round, so there’s no seaming, and it’s really fun to watch the texture appear as you knit each round. So, if you love quick projects that look more complicated than they are, this one is for you!
The headband is extra wide too, which I love for keeping my ears warm and hair out of my face. The wider width also gives the heart pattern more room to stand out, so the design really shows.
This is a great pattern if you want something cute to knit for Valentine’s Day, gifts for friends, or just a fast, fun project to practice your knitting skills. It works up quickly, uses simple stitches, and gives you a finished piece that feels both practical and special.
Choosing the Right Yarn For your Headband
I used Berocco Comfort Chunky yarn for this design, and it’s a great choice for headbands. It’s soft against the skin, warm without being heavy, and has just enough stretch to hold its shape without squeezing your head. It also washes well, which is always a bonus for something you’ll wear on winter walks, school drop-offs, or under a jacket hood.
If you don’t have access to the exact yarn that I used, then any bulky weight yarn should be just fine – but I recommend knitting a gauge swatch before starting to make sure your headband fits just right. There’s nothing more annoying than a headband that’s too tight or too loose!

Would it be ok to use Red Heart super saver yarn?
It should be fine, but I recommend double checking the gauge.
