Easy Mosaic Knit Shawl Pattern

Introducing the Go-Go Shawl
My newest knitting pattern is the Go-Go Shawl, a mosaic knit triangle shawl that I’m super duper excited to share with you guys today! I drew inspiration from the bold patterns and mod fashion of the 1960s, and I knew mosaic knitting would be the perfect technique to bring the colourwork design I had in mind to life.
If you haven’t tried mosaic knitting before, it’s actually a type of slip stitch knitting that allows you to create beautiful colour work patterns without having to work with two colours at the same time. Instead, you work with one colour for two rows before switching to the other. Slipping certain stitches allows the colour from previous rows to show through, and the result is a stunning geometric pattern that looks much more complicated to knit than it actually is!

Easy to Learn
One of the things I think you’ll really like about this shawl pattern is that it starts with just three stitches. This makes it a great project for anyone wanting to give mosaic knitting a try. There’s no pressure to get everything right on the first attempt because you’re only working with a handful of stitches in the beginning. As the shawl grows, you’ll become more comfortable with the technique, and before you know it, you’ll have the eight-row stitch pattern memorized. So you’ll learn something new while making a shawl you’ll be proud to wear!
If you’ve never tried mosaic knitting knitting before, check out the video tutorial I made last year for my Kensington Throw Blanket pattern. The Kensington throw uses mosaic knitting in it’s design too. The video will give you an idea of how mosaic knitting works, as well as some tips like how to carry the yarn up the sides.
