The summer months are finally here! If you plan to spend time at the beach or by the pool this summer, then I have the perfect patten for you! I designed this crochet beach cover up pattern to be simple, stylish, and best of all beginner friendly. If you are new to crochet, then you’ll be happy to know that the only stitches used for this easy pattern are the chain stitch and the double crochet stitch.
The assembly of this crochet cover up is super easy too. This cover up is created by crocheting two identical rectangular panels, and then sewing them together to create a Kimono style cardigan. I’ve included diagrams to guide you through how to assemble the panels with the pattern below.

Notes:
- The turning chain at the end of each row counts as the first double crochet of following row. Therefore, when starting a new row, begin crocheting in the second stitch (skip the first stitch).Â
- I highly recommend practicing on a small swatch first (chain a multiple of 4) to understand the stitch pattern.

Crochet Beach Cover Up Pattern – Free:

Row 2: DC in next dc; *CH2, skip next 2dc, DC in each of the next 2dc; repeat from * to end of row; CH3, turn.
Row 3: DC in next dc; *2DC in next ch2 space, DC in each of the next 2dc; repeat from * to end of row; CH3, turn.

Row 7: DC in each dc to end of row; CH3, turn.
Repeat rows 2-7 two more times for size S/M, or three more times for size L/XL.
Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.
Each rectangular panel should measure as follows:
S/M: 11.5” X 56”.
L/XL: 15” X 56”.
Once you have two panels, continue to Assembly.
Assembly:
Step 1: Connect the two panels.
Lay the panels side by side with the right sides facing down. The foundation chain side of each panel will face the outside, while the last row of crochet will be on the inside (where the two pieces connect).
Using a tapestry needle and some yarn, sew the panels together from the bottom up 24” (see dotted line on diagram). This creates the back of the cover up.
Step 2: Fold the top half over (2.a). Sew up the sides 17” from the bottom (see dotted lines on diagram 2.b) to create arm holes. Your cover up is now complete!

Hi Mona! Yes, that would look great too!
Can you leave the sides unsewn and use this as a shawl?
