Wow, this year has flown by so quickly for me! It must be because I’m having such a great time creating patterns to share with you all! Designing knitting and crochet patterns is truly my passion, and I’m so grateful for this platform where I am able to share them with the world. For my last pattern of the year, I decided to share this super fun argyle cowl knitting pattern.
This cowl is knit with two colours, using the stranded knitting method for changing between colours. Stranded knitting is one of my favourite knitting styles because I find it incredibly rewarding to watch the design come together row by row. It is a great way to stay motivated to finish – I find myself just wanting to finish one more row so that I can see more of the picture come together! I’m hoping that you feel the same way and enjoy this pattern as much as I did!
For those of you that are new to stranded knitting, I have embedded a YouTube video with the pattern below that I made for my Buffalo Plaid Beanie Pattern, where I demonstrate how to hold the yarn and switch colours. You can also find the video on the Leelee Knits Youtube Channel.

Notes:
This cowl is knit in the round on 16” circular knitting needles.
When working the stranded stitches, always hold the non-dominant colour to the left, and the dominant colour to the right. The yarn held to the left will produce a slightly larger stitch than the yarn held to the right; this will ensure the stitches are consistent in size and make the non-dominant colour pop.
I have created a video on stranded knitting to show how I hold the yarn and switch colours. If you are new to stranded knitting, please watch the video below before you start.
