A Cozy Blanket Pattern Knitted for Warmth and Style!
It is getting colder up here in the northern hemisphere! With the chilly weather and more time spent indoors, I thought a cozy throw blanket pattern knitted for both warmth and style would be perfect for this month’s post!
This knit blanket pattern mixes cozy cables with knit and purl textures to create the ultimate snuggly throw! It’s got just the right amount of texture to keep you warm and cozy. Whether thrown over the couch or layered on your bed, this blanket will for sure keep you extra warm and comfy during the fall and winter months.
While the pattern is fairly simple overall, it does require a little extra concentration at the start, especially when you’re getting used to the cable sections and the 8-row repeat. But don’t worry—once you’ve knit through the repeat a couple of times, it becomes rhythmic and relaxing. You’ll find yourself falling into a calming flow, and before you know it, the rows will fly by.

Honestly, I enjoyed making this blanket so much that I was a little sad when I finished! It’s such a soothing and satisfying project that I’m already planning to knit another one, this time for our bedroom. If you’re looking for a project that’s both cozy and fun to work on, the Cozy Cables Throw is the perfect choice. Plus, you’ll have a gorgeous, handmade blanket to show for it by the end!
Choosing Yarn for your Knitted Blanket
I chose to work with the most gorgeous shade of red I could find – Knit Picks Brava worsted weight yarn, in the colour Wine. This is the perfect colour to compliment most holiday decor, and invokes a feeling of warmth and elegance. I also love that Brava very affordable, since blankets require quite a bit of yarn! To be safe, I ordered 10 skeins, but ended up using just over 7 skeins of this gorgeous yarn for my blanket – leaving plenty for another project! I have to say, I’m in love with the end result. This throw is super cozy and soft, and it looks great draped over the sofa – right next to our Christmas tree!

I have some brava worsted weight and it feels so spongey and almost stiff…how do you get it to drape so nicely? Do you wash it first or does it just get more soft and drapey as you knit?
Hi Brenna, it definitely gets softer as you knit with it.
